“And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.” (1 John 3:23, KJV)

The upstairs air duct unit had to be rechecked. I called the company that had serviced it before. There was a knock at the door; a tall man was standing outside along with another man, who seemed to be Hispanic. The tall man gave me his business card and said that he was the service manager. An assistant had come with him. My first thought was, “Do they know the Lord?”

I was expecting the two men who had serviced the air duct before. I told the manager this, and he said that one of them was going to meet him at our place. This was great, because he was one of the ones I had prayed with before, and he had believed in Jesus and was saved.

I escorted them upstairs. They evaluated the problem and asked to see the unit that controlled the upstairs air duct.

I asked the assistant if he could speak English. He said that he understood a lot and spoke a little. I knew then that if I had the opportunity to pray with him, it would be in Spanish.

After looking at the unit, they both went outside to their truck to get the equipment needed. When they came in and started working, the manager stopped for a moment to view part of the equipment. This is when I asked him if he knew Jesus. He looked surprised that I would ask this and was quiet for a moment. Then he said that he did. I asked him if he had asked Jesus to be his Saviour. He smiled and said that he had. He said that several of the men who worked with the company were Christians.

There was another knock at the door. An older and younger man were outside. I welcomed them both in. The older man began to work right away. I moved aside to make sure I was not in the way. The young man with whom I had prayed before came straight toward me.

He began to tell me about his salvation experience. His countenance was filled with the presence of the Lord. He shared, “That day when we prayed, I felt the most amazing presence! It was so good!” He could hardly find words to describe his joy! He said, “I went straight home to tell my mother. She was so happy!” His mother was a Christian, and I am sure had been praying for him.

He then shared about the challenges he had been facing in his home and his life. We talked, and I explained that God is a God of love but also a God of wrath, and that we must make things in our lives right with God and then with man.

He listened intently. What an opportunity it was to speak with him again! As we shared our hearts, I just happened to glance at the manager. He was observing us and smiling.

There were now four men in our place. It was a bit crowded with the six of us in the space where they were working.

I thought, “Okay, Lord, do these men know you?” The service manager had said that the older man was a pastor. So, now I counted: the manager, older man, and the young man are saved, so it must be the manager’s assistant.

As they all began to put away the equipment and go toward the door, they each wanted to thank me. I looked at the assistant and asked him, “Do you know Jesus?”

He said, “I don’t go to church.”

I said, “I didn’t ask you if you went to church. I asked you if you know Jesus.”

With the other men standing beside us—the pastor at my right, the saved young man at my left, the assistant in front of me, and the manager behind me—he answered, “I go so far away from Him.”

I boldly and graciously responded, “We are going to pray right now for Jesus to be the Saviour of your soul and make things right in your life.”

The pastor nodded his head and softly said, “Yes.”

I explained, “I have not practiced my Spanish much, but I will give it a good try. Let’s pray.”

The assistant looked straight into my eyes. He prayed, as the rest of the men looked on. He asked Jesus to forgive him of his sins, acknowledged Him as the Son of God who had died and risen, thanked Jesus for his life, and offered his life to Him.

I told him, “Now you have an owner. He is God. No one can take you out of His hands, not even you.” He took a breath and smiled!

When we finished praying, the other men were smiling, and the assistant was filled with joy! He looked at me with eyes full of joy, took a sigh of relief with laughter, and thanked me. Immediately, his heart became very soft, and he, sweetly, offered to do a final check on the air system, because he was so appreciative to know that he was saved. The men all knew Jesus and had witnessed this man become owned by God Himself! They were brothers in Christ, caring for one another.

The men surrounded him like a small army of souls, as they began to leave. The pastor shook my hand and said, “It is not usual to meet someone who believes in Jesus and who prays with others. May God keep you and bless you.”

“Abba! Father! I am so broken! I’ve yet to be totally healed and am still in great discomfort, but You are always moving on hearts to know Your Son when they enter our place! I had asked You to please make this a place of salvation, and You have! Jesus, my heart melted to see that newly saved man offer his heart to do more for us. He was so thankful to have prayed and been saved. It was all over his face! Thank You for Your Holy Spirit, who helped me to pray in Spanish, and for helping me to talk with each of the men. It was so sweet to see them leave so comforted and at peace with their new brother in Christ.”
