I worked at one of the largest computer corporations in the nation. While there, I used to place my Bible on my desk. Because people noticed it, many would be very careful of what they would talk about when around my area, and not many would draw too close. This kept me safe and available to those who may need God.

One day, I walked down a corridor and wondered what in the world I was doing there. I had no reason to turn into that corridor. I noticed that in a small office there was a lady working alone during lunch time. I peeked in and greeted her. She invited me in. Her office was dark, since there was not much light in it. As I had thought, she was a new employee and not yet acquainted with the staff. I listened to her heart. She was an African American woman married to a Jewish man. As I listened, I asked her, “Have you ever talked to the Lord about all this?”

She answered, “I would like to, but I don’t know how.”

“Would you like to know now?” I asked.

She immediately responded, “Yes.”

We prayed together, and she believed and gave her life to Jesus. She was so amazed and showed calm excitement. We talked a little, and I invited her to church.

One Sunday, she was sitting in church. I was so surprised to see her! She had come to share her testimony of believing in Jesus.

I always remember that corridor and the soul that came to know Jesus in a small, lonely office.

“Abba, Father, You are in the small places of loneliness and darkness, drawing the lonely soul to Your Son. Jesus, You are the light in the darkness of a heart and the comforter to the lonely. Holy Spirit, You directed my steps—when I didn’t even know where I was—to a soul whose heart was ready for Jesus. Thank you.”

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

John 8:12

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

John 12:46

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

Acts 26:18

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 4:6

Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.

Psalm 4:7

The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
