My husband’s eyeglasses broke, and he needed a new pair right away. We went to an eyeglass store. I had eyeglasses that needed adjusting, so I talked with an attendant and then the manager to see about my need.

Meanwhile, the attendant who first assisted me was helping my husband. I walked over to where my husband was to help him choose a new frame. None seemed to be the right fit or style.

I looked at the attendant’s nametag. It read a biblical name. The young man was Asian. I asked him, “Did you know that your name is in the Bible?”

He smiled seriously and said, “My mother gave my brother and me names that were in the Bible.”

I then asked him, “Do you know Jesus?”

He took a step back and said, “I am not religious.”

I stepped forward and looked at him seriously, “I am not talking about religion. I am talking about Jesus. He is not a religious God. He is a real God, and He loves you. I am talking about having a personal and intimate relationship with Him. He died on the cross for your sins and mine.” He listened intently.

I continued, “He loves you and wants you to know Him. He is the only way to heaven. You will go somewhere when you die. Your body will go in the ground, but you will go somewhere. That will be your choice. And you cannot make that choice when you are gone. You can only make it while you’re alive. There are only two choices, heaven or hell. It is your decision.” He was looking at me seriously. He didn’t say a word.

I told him, “You have a choice to make. It is very easy to talk to God and give your life to His Son so that you will be in heaven. Don’t make it complicated. This is how you get started, ‘Father …,’” I led him. “Can you say that?” I asked him. He repeated after me, “Father, thank You for Your love for me.” We continued praying. He gave his life to Jesus, repenting of his sins.

When we were done, with a big smile he said, “I want to go to heaven!”

I said, “Nothing can take you out of God’s hands, not even you!”

He smiled a bit, “That is great!”

We then talked about reading the Bible and going to church. He noted where to read in the Bible and where to go to church.

He smiled widely the whole time! I smiled with him! What Joy to see one come out of darkness into the light—JESUS!

“Abba Father, I would never have thought that this visit to the eyeglass store would have sown a soul whom You have chosen to know Your Son.”

“Jesus, how wonderful it was to see this young man who had a biblical name want to go to heaven, where he will now be with You!”

“Holy Spirit, thank You for guiding my thoughts to go and help my husband choose a pair of eyeglasses. Thank You for your help to tell the young man who was assisting him about Jesus so that he may believe in him and be in heaven with Him!”

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15

Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple. Psalm 65:4

And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. Acts 15:7

As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Colossians 2:6

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. 1 Thessalonians 2:13
