Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? (Pslam139:2-7, KJV)

We needed to install a home security system. The man who came to do the service worked in cyber security. Installing home security systems was his job on the side. He said that it gave him something more to do and that he enjoyed knowing he had done a good job for homeowners.

He and my husband walked around the house, as they decided where to place the system parts. I was sitting in the living room. My husband came and sat beside me and said, “He was in a Catholic school and had been very active in that.” Then he looked at me. That was my key to tell this young man about Jesus. I was not expecting this, so it caught me by surprise. I was not sure how to go about this. So, I started praying, asking the Holy Spirit for His help. I sat still and observed the man and waited.

As we listened to his instructions, I noticed that he was very smart, quick, and focused, while explaining how the system worked. I listened to his specific words, hoping to hear something to help me start the conversation about Jesus. He kept mentioning the motion detector and telling us how it worked.

Meanwhile, I was getting a little nervous about telling him about Jesus. My heart was beginning to race as he talked about the service he was installing and placed the parts at different areas of our home. After he was done, he packed his gear and was ready to walk out the door. I still didn’t know what to say and my heart was still racing a little.

He was leaving, and, finally, I got out of my seat and stood in front of him. I said, “Just a moment, I want to tell you something.” He was in a hurry. Now what was I going to do? “I know that you are on speed mode, but I cannot move or talk as fast as you do. I need you to stop for a moment and listen.”

He stopped walking toward the door, and his body relaxed. I said, “You have been talking about a motion detector. It reacts to every move that is made. I want you to know that God is your motion detector. He is watching every move you make. There is not one move that you make that He is not aware of. And the reason for that is because He wants you to acknowledge Him, because Jesus died for you on the cross for your sins and mine. He is the only way to heaven and the other place to go to without Him is hell.”

“I have gotten rid of some monsters,” he said, as he hesitated to explain. That was an odd comment.

I stayed focused about Jesus. “Jesus loves you, and He is the only way to heaven. You must ask him to be the Saviour of your soul and Lord of your life. You just talk with Him as you and I are talking. And I am going to help you talk with Him right now, so you will know that if anything happens to you, you will end up in heaven. So, let’s pray.”

He looked at me. “You just pray with me,” I said. I began praying, and he began praying with me. As he confessed every sentence very carefully, his eyes shifted strangely. But he didn’t stop praying. We kept praying until we finished.

He then adjusted the strap of his gear on his shoulder, took a breath, and thanked me. We then talked about how and where to start reading the Bible.

My husband and I prayed for him, as we watched him walk down the steps and into the yard.

“Abba, Father, this salvation made me very nervous. It is no wonder. My husband and I knew that as he confessed Your Son as His Saviour, this young man was in deep need of You. Thank You, Jesus, for Your help as this man believed in You. I am so grateful to Your Spirit that helped me to know what to say. This one was hard. But there is no soul too hard for You, Saviour, not one!”
