And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. (John 16:23-25 KJV)

He looked very serious and sad, as I watched him work in the fish area of the store. Finally, I approached the area.

“You look so serious. Are you okay?”

“I just want to care for my family.”

“There is one who understands your heart about your family and is ready and willing to help you.”

“Who is that?”

“God.”

“I pray every day.”

“You must know who to pray to. You must know who the Son of God is. He died for you on the cross for your sins, because He loves you. He loves your family too.”

“I pray to God all the time.”

“Do you know the Son of God—Jesus?”

“No.”

“God can only answer you if you pray to Him in the name of His Son, Jesus, who gave His life for you. Would you like to know Him?”

He was silent for a couple of moments. “Yes, I would.”

“Would you like for me to pray with you to know Him?”

“Yes.”

“Let’s pray.” He placed his hands together on the counter and bowed his head.

We prayed, as he believed in the Son of God, Jesus, confessed his sins, and asked Jesus to take his life and use it for His glory.

After we finished, he gave a big smile. “Thank you.”

“You can pray to God now in the name of His Son, Jesus. You belong to Him now. He will hear you. Tell Him everything about what’s on your heart. Talk to Him about your family. He will hear you and answer you.”

“Thank you.”

I gave him a Bible. He was so happy!

‘’Abba, Father, how simple and quick this was. This man just needed someone who would care about what was on his heart. And that Someone is Your Son.  Jesus, how troubled he was about caring for his family. But, now, You will care for him and them. And he will know it. May he know You more through Your Word, Lord. Watch over him, Father. He’s Yours, Jesus!”
