We had to go to the store to look for a handheld vacuum. Due to my uncomfortable state, I had to stay in the car with our golden retriever and wait for my husband, as he did the shopping.

Our ministry assistant called and said that he was ready for us to pick him up. I called my husband, but the call went to voice mail. I was a little perturbed because now I had to move, which was uncomfortable, get out of the car, walk up to the store, and go in to look for my husband.

When I found him, I told him that his phone was off and that our assistant was ready for us to pick him up. He simply smiled. So then I helped him choose the vacuum. As we were walking down the aisle, there was a woman and a man marketing a coffee machine. We greeted them. I asked them how the coffee was. They were very pleasant and humorous with their responses.

A cashier then said that she could help us check out. As she served us, she talked about the store and about product benefits. She was very good at her job.

We left and got in the car. Then I thought, “Wait a minute, God did not cause me to have to get out of the car to look for a vacuum! There must be a soul that He is after.” So I got out of the car and told my husband that there was something I had to do. He knew what I was up to.

I walked in the store and looked toward the woman and man who were marketing the coffee. Both were very engaged with customers. So I said, “Lord, I guess it isn’t either one of them. Who is it?”

I looked toward the cashier. She was standing outside of the cashier area talking to a young man who was a store employee. The man left. I approached her. But as I did, a customer approached her too. She got ready to help. Somehow that customer took a little turn and didn’t go toward the cashier that was right in front of him. Then another customer came from the other direction. I stood still, and that customer also took a little turn and didn’t go toward the cashier.

I then approached more closely and asked her, “Do you know God?”

She said, “Yes.”

I asked her, “How do you know Him?”

She talked with her hands and expressed, “I go to a Catholic church and a Baptist church, so I have both.”

I said, “Well, we are going to be sure that you know how to get to heaven by knowing Jesus, the Son of God. Would you like that?”

She said, “Yes.”

I said, “Okay, let’s pray.” We looked in each other’s eyes, as we prayed. She received Jesus as her personal Saviour, asked Him for forgiveness of her sins, and gave her life to Him for His glory. Out of darkness into the light!

Afterward her smile was so sweet and her face full of color. We hugged. And I told her, “You will now be in heaven. Nothing can take you out of God’s hands, not even you!”

“Abba Father, I had no idea whom you were drawing to Your Son in that store. Lord Jesus, Son of God, You are after souls all the time! You never stop! Holy Spirit of God, thank You for helping my body and heart to move even when it was hard, to go after a soul that Jesus was after. God in heaven, I exalt the name of Your Son above the earth, that many may be drawn to Your Son and be saved!”

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

John 12:46

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

John 8:12

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

Acts 26:18

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
