We were at one of your regular grocery stores. I was emotionally spent. I said to the Lord, “I will not talk about You today, Jesus. I don’t want any more attacks on my life. I am just going to rest for a little while.”

As we approached the cashier area, I noticed that the woman there was glancing at me with a very focused look. I knew that this look was unusual. Again I said to the Lord, “No, Lord, I will not talk about You today. I will rest. I am tired of the battle. I need to rest.”

As we checked out our groceries, no other customers came near. This too was odd. Again I said to the Lord, “I don’t want any more challenges after I talk about You. I will not tell her.” Checking out seemed to take longer than usual, but still no customers came near us.

I then said, “Okay, Lord, I will tell her. You will have to help me because I really do not want to suffer after this. I am getting weak in the fight.” I couldn’t resist the look in this woman’s eyes. I knew that she could tell that there was something different about me, and, of course, it was Jesus, although she did not know that.

I looked at the woman and said, “Do you know who loves you?”

She smiled and said, “My husband. My father.”

I commented, “Yes, and who else?”

She looked at me and responded, “God.”

I said, “Yes, do you know Him?”

She said seriously, “I know that He is something different to everyone.”

I said, “There is only one true God—God. And His Son who gave his life for you on the cross loves you. Have you ever talked to God about Him and asked Him to be your Saviour, so you will know that you will be in heaven?”

She just looked at me. I continued, “We can pray right now about this.”

She bent and placed her arms on the counter and leaning on them said, “No, I am good. I am okay.”

Usually, if someone says this, I don’t think to go any further at that time, due to the other customers and having the time to get into why the person said this. But still there were no customers around us. I looked around, and customers were in other cashier lines, but not this one. So I proceeded by saying, “No one will know that we are praying.” She looked around.

I said, “Let’s pray.” She confessed Jesus as her Saviour and asked Him to forgive her of her sins; she said that she was sorry. Then she asked Him to take her life for His glory.

Afterward, she smiled with a look in her eyes that was full of joy! She smiled and smiled.

I then asked her if she had a Bible. She said that she did. We talked about where to start reading and how to start reading. Then we took a photo together. Both of us rejoiced!

“Abba, Father, I am sorry that I said that I wouldn’t talk to anyone about Your Son. Jesus, I apologize for not trusting You to protect me and not remembering that You will turn around for good the challenges that come. This gift of talking about You is not mine; it is Yours. I am very sorry. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for helping me. I could not have known how to go about this without You.”

For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

2 Corinthians 10:4

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
