I was at the grocery store. As I was going to check out my items, I looked at the cashier stations and wondered with whom God wanted me to share salvation in Jesus.

I looked at one, and even though there was only one customer with that cashier, I knew that was not where God wanted me to go. I looked at another and thought that though it looked like it might be more of a challenge to share Christ with that cashier than I was up to, that is where I had to go.

The cashier was a large-built man. He had a nice smile. His skin was dark. He wore a beard and glasses. The young man sacking the groceries was one whom I know had heard me share salvation with another man before. The bagger had laughed at me.

As I began to share Christ with the cashier, I noticed his nametag and asked him what his name was. He said that it was Spanish. He did not look Spanish to me.

As he was checking the items, I asked him if he had heard of Jesus in his country. He said that he was a Catholic. He shared that he used to go to church with his parents. But now with his wife and children, it was too hard to have time to go. He mentioned that his wife was more interested in going to church, but they do not have the time.

I told him, “That is why you have to know Jesus as your personal Saviour and Lord. He is not about going to church. He is about having a personal relationship. He will help you to know Him and how to tell your wife and children about Him. Have you ever asked Him to be your Saviour and Lord?”

He responded, “No, I have never heard that one before.”

I asked him, “Would you like to?”

He looked into my eyes and said, “Yes, I would.”

I then said, “I am going to help you. Let’s ask Him now.” We began to pray and, as he kept checking the items and looking into my eyes, he prayed to believe and receive Jesus as his personal Saviour and Lord.

Afterward, he gave a big smile and said, “I had never heard that one before. Thank you so much.” I shared with him where to read in the Bible. He said he was going to look into it. He gave me another big smile and thanked me again.

The young man who was sacking the items looked at me, smiling. This time he was not laughing. He had just witnessed this big man pray to give his life to Jesus. He seemed very interested in what we had just said and prayed. Too many customers began to come. I will have to talk with this young man the next time I see him.

“Abba Father, You are always drawing souls to your Son for Salvation. May we be attentive to Your Spirit to know whom these are, so that they believe and have eternal life.”

“Jesus, how You love the lost! Please help us to know Your love for them everywhere we go, so that we may tell them about You.”

For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.
