[But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Matthew 19:26]

When teaching young non-English speakers, it was decided by the administration that instead of having the state mandate of 22 students per teacher, that I would be given 42 students.  This was due to the state tests. I was chosen to prepare these students.  When, I was called into the meeting to be informed of this decision, all I could say was, “Of course!” My heart was the more the better. I will get to tell more about Jesus!

I was assigned an assistant teacher. I waited and waited for her with expectation. Finally, she came to the classroom one morning and introduced herself. I welcomed her as part of what God was going do. She was from a Spanish speaking country. She happened to be Christian.

As she assisted throughout the year and observed the many ways in which I shared Jesus, she was perplexed. She let me know that this could not be done due to the state and religious laws. Since, I was the teacher, she could not interfere. I did not give attention to her stand against sharing Jesus in the classroom.

Near the end of the year, I decided that I would purchase a station wagon, so that I could take my young students to church.

I made all the plans and got the parents’ permission. So, on a Sunday, the students gathered in front of the school. I was surprised to see the assistant join us.

We all packed into the station wagon and on we went to the church. I had already notified the church staff that I would be bringing my students. They were waiting. The students were dressed in their best – so sweet.

The pastor asked all the students to the front of the church on stage by the pulpit. He gave the microphone to one of the students and asked them to share with the church. I was so surprised! The first student, whom was so strong in character surprised me when she said, “I had never heard about Jesus until my teacher told me about Him”.  Now I know Him.” And, on went the sharing, one by one, telling about their new-found JESUS!

The pastor’s wife said to all people in the church, “I just don’t get it. How is this possible that in a public school system, this can be done? She was so perplexed, just like the assistant. I didn’t get it as how it could not be done when you know JESUS!

The staff, had arranged a lunch time for the students. They had they very best! I had no idea!

By the end of school year, the assistant said to me, “I just did not think it ever possible. I don’t even words to explain it. There are no words with to describe all that you did for JESUS in the public school system. I will never be the same.”

“Abba, Father, what risk is there to tell about your Son, Jesus? What joy to take every opportunity in whatever career or business to tell about Him! Lord, Jesus, I had no idea that this could not be done! You blinded me to laws and regulations. All I knew was YOU! Sweet Holy Spirit, how wonder it was to have Your help and see that all thigs are possible with God!”
