“And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me.” (John 5:37 KJV)

My ribs were in great pain. I could hardly move. We had an appointment with the doctor. It was very hard to get to the car.

After we drove up to the building, my husband parked the car in front to get a wheelchair. I was surprised that a man with a wheelchair returned with him. I could not see the man’s face, because my husband was helping me get out of the car. It was hard to get into the wheelchair. My husband went to park the car. Meanwhile, the man pushed the wheelchair with me in it into the building.

“What’s your name?”

“Reuben.”

“That is a very good name. It is a biblical name.”

“Yes, it is. It is the name of the firstborn.”

“Are you a Christian?”

“No. But I know that there is a God.” His tone of voice came from his heart. This man knew that God existed.

“Well, you can’t talk to God but through His Son, Jesus because He died on the cross for your sins and mine.”

He parked the wheelchair in a place where I could wait for my husband to return.

“Come in front of me, Reuben.” He came. This man was dark-skinned and wore glasses and a mask. He was so spiritually dark. Oh, Lord, I am suffering so much in body right now. I don’t want another attack.

There he stood, looking at me. I had to talk to him. “Reuben, listen to me. When your time comes, you will go to one of two places: heaven or hell. And there is no in between. You will be in heaven or hell. The Bible says that if you call on the name of Jesus Christ, you will be saved. Now here is what you say, ‘Father God, thank You for Your love for me.’ Can you say that?”

He started to say this. Then we started praying. Reuben believed in Jesus. He believed in his heart and confessed with his mouth that Jesus died and rose again. At Jesus’s cross, he confessed his sin, asked for forgiveness, and gave his life to Jesus to use for His glory.

This man was so excited! His smile went up to the sides of his mask.

“Get a Bible, Reuben. Start reading the book of John.”

His eyes gleaming with joy, he said, “Got it!” Then he left.

When my husband came for me, he said, “I knew what that was about.” “Lord, look at Claudia. Is there anything like this? This is amazing.” He was smiling big!

I looked for Reuben to introduce them. He was nowhere to be seen. He was there for his salvation in Christ and gone.

It turns out that the doctor’s office had made a mistake in their communication and the appointment was on Zoom. Had it not been for this, we would not have gone to the doctor, and Reuben would not have heard about Jesus.

“Abba, Father, to go after souls, You use even the mistakes that are made. Jesus, only You would put us in such a place to get to the soul that You were after. Holy Spirit, had it not been for Your help, I could not have told this man about Jesus. Thank You. This man knew there was a God. Now he knows it’s You, Jesus!”
