On a visit to Paris, France, I was hosted by a family who had three daughters. The youngest one was kind enough to walk the streets with me to see the city.

As we approached the metro, we were looking at the map just to see where the metro traveled. As we studied it, a young girl stood beside us. She asked for help to get to her destination. The girl seemed to be about nineteen years old, which was the same age of the young daughter who was with me.

The young girl asking for help looked a little nervous and lost. To help her calm down and assure her that she would be fine, I asked her if she would mind having a coffee with us.

As we sat and listened to the girl, I asked the young daughter if she would please translate for me. I wanted to present salvation in Christ, so I needed the communication to be very clear.

As I shared Jesus with the young girl, she became more intrigued. I said to her, “We can help with directions to get you to your destination by metro. But you need God to help you get to an everlasting destination. Would you like to know how to get there?”

She was a little quiet before responding, “Yes.”

I continued, “You will have to ask God for His help. He will hear you and answer you. Would you like to pray to ask Him?”

She softly answered, “Yes.”  I asked her if she would like to pray. She quickly positioned herself to do so. We prayed and, with the daughter translating, this young girl believed in Jesus!

Afterward, this young girl had the sweetest peace. She was no longer nervous. The three of us enjoyed a cup of coffee as we talked. Not only was this sweet, young girl in need of a friend, but she was in need of the eternal friend, the Saviour.

We then helped her on her way on the metro. She was at peace and was assured that she would reach her destiny here on earth, and also her destiny in heaven.

Much to my surprise, the young daughter was without words about the salvation that she had just witnessed. As long as she had been a Christian, attending an evangelical church, and living in Paris all her life, she had not been with anyone who would believe in Jesus, especially not a stranger met at a metro stop. Somehow for her this was very unusual. This impressed her so much that she went about telling everyone what had happened.

“Abba, Father, I once was said ‘One may know several languages, but if one does not know the language of God’s love than the languages are all they are, a language.’ You, Father, are the creator of all languages, and You have given the one that tells of Your Son, Your Word. And, Jesus, You are the Living Word. You are the language of the love you gave on Your cross. This language gives one eternal life. Spirit of God, You directed our footsteps to that metro station just for that one soul whom Jesus wanted for Himself.”
