“But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.” (Mark 4:29, KJV)
While waiting at the Sydney airport for a flight to Northern Australia, I went into a store to talk with a young sales girl. My heart was moved to speak with her, and I quickly went to her because we did not have much time before our flight.
She was walking around the store with no customers to attend to. We talked a little, and the next thing I knew I was letting her change the color of my lipstick. I told her that I was not going to purchase any merchandise and that I did not have much time before our flight. She advised me to not buy anything, but to look for the same lipstick in America, because it would cost much less.
I then asked her, “Do you know that there is One who paid a very high price for your sins so that you could be forgiven and be in heaven?” She listened carefully. I asked her if she would care to know Him.
She immediately said, “Yes.” I asked her if she would like to pray to believe in Jesus as the Son of God, her Savior and the Lord of her life.
She again immediately said, “Yes.”
This salvation was happening so quickly! We then turned toward each other, and as she was trying a new lipstick on me, we prayed. She believed in Jesus. She repented of her sins, giving her life to Him. Immediately, her eyes were opened to the truth, and she gave the most joyful smile of relief.
We talked about reading the Bible and spending time talking to the Savior in prayer. She said that she would certainly do this. Her heart was ready to learn about Jesus.
She then gave me a big hug and thanked me. As her eyes were now fixed on mine, with a glorious countenance now full of light, she said, “Please, when you come this way again, come and see me. I will always remember you. Thank you again.”
I said, “I too will always remember you, and you will now be in heaven for eternity.” She smiled with that joyous smile! Jesus was now living inside of her! Rather than a lipstick changed to red, she had a changed life! This soul was the merchandise purchased by the blood of the Son of God!
“Abba, Father, how can I contain for one moment the immediate urgency of a soul whom Your Spirit is quickening to believe in Your Son?”
“Messiah, I recall the many times it is written that at Your Word “immediately” people’s diseases were healed, fevers left, the lame walked, the blind received sight. You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. Lord, immediately, this soul believed in You and from the blind condition, at the truth of Your Word, she saw the Light, You, the Messiah. May the fruit of her salvation cause her to follow You the rest of her life. Spirit of God, thank You for leading our footsteps toward that store. Thank You for moving my heart immediately toward this young woman who was so ready for the Savior!”
