“While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.” (John 12:36, KJV)

We were done with placing all that we needed into the shopping cart. I looked at all the cashiers and asked the Lord, “Which one are You after, Lord?”

My focus went to a girl whose check-out stand was near the exit door. She had just finished helping a customer and was pulling some bags out. By the time she was settled enough to help us, I noticed that she had a small price tag stuck on her sleeve.

I asked her, “How much do you cost?” She looked at me, puzzled. “You have a price tag on your sleeve.”

She smiled. “Oh, one of my friends was just playing around and put that on me.”

“Well, there is someone who paid a high cost for you. Do you know who that is?” I looked at her.

“Who?” she asked.

“He paid a high price for you on the cross,” I informed her.

“Ah, yes,” she said, as she rang up our groceries.

“Who is that?” I asked her.

“Jesus,” she said.

“That’s right!” I looked again into her eyes.

“Do you know who He is?” I waited for her response, as she kept working.

“I have heard about Him since I was a little girl,” she explained, as she began to place the groceries in a bag. She continued, “My grandmother was very religious.”

Excitedly I said, “Well, since you have heard about Him and having had your grandmother in your life when you were a little girl has now brought you to this very moment! Because today you will know Jesus!” She smiled big as if ready to receive a gift! “We’re going to pray right now,” I told her.

She had already finished putting our items into bags. I glanced at the customer behind me. I was not sure if I could continue. The customer was daydreaming, so I went for it!

I said, “No one knows what we are talking about. You just pretend that you are still working and I am still waiting.” I picked up a round container from the counter that read something about an avocado cream. I asked her, “How long has this avocado cream been here?” She kept getting bags and pretending to open them to place groceries in them. This was so amazing; she went with it!

We began to pray, as I pretended to shop and she to work. After we were done, she stopped and looked into my eyes. Her eyes were bright! Light had come into her! She had received the gift of salvation, Jesus. Full of joy, she smiled and said, “Thank you!”

She saw the Light, Jesus. He was not hidden from her all these years.

I quickly asked about a Bible. She had one, and I gave her quick instructions about reading it.

The customer behind me came out of her daydreaming. God had finished the work!

My husband and I walked out of the store, rejoicing and praising Jesus!

“Abba, I am always amazed at the soul that You have drawn to Your Son and placed in front of me! Jesus, how is it that You do this! I know it is by Your Holy Spirit. But to watch this is glorious! You are the Light, Lord, the gift of salvation. You are not hidden from man. We just have to tell about You. I give all the honor and glory and thanks to You for the privilege of telling about You, Jesus!”
