Lately there have been many young men from Nepal working in our community. They are a very distinguished and intriguing people.

I have wondered how I would share Christ with one of them. Each time I meet one of these young men, I don’t know how to approach him with a conversation about Jesus. Most speak a very broken English. But my greatest challenge was in reaching someone whose country was so infiltrated with so many horrible idols and where there was so much oppression due to it. I really didn’t think I had it in me to approach a person with such a background.

I was at a store. After I had gathered the items I needed, I stood away from the cashiers’ area and looked at each of the persons working. I asked the Lord which one He wanted me to talk to about Him.

One young man caught my attention by waving his hand, directing me to his cashier area. I thought, “Okay, Lord, it’s this one.” This young man had a very quiet disposition and kind smile.

I tried to pronounce his name on his nametag. Then I asked him where he was from. He said, “Nepal.”  I thought, “Oh my, Lord, Nepal, what am I going to say? What will suffer due to what this person comes with?” Then, all of a sudden, I felt an inner sweetness, peace, and joy. I began to speak very gently. I said, “Nepal, what a place to come from. It is a very interesting place. Did you ever hear about Jesus in Nepal?”

He smiled and said, “Yes. We have a church there.”

I asked him, “Do you know who He is?”

He smiled again and announced, “Ah, He is God.” He looked very proud that he had knowledge about this.

“Yes, He is the Son of God.”

Then he looked at me with curiosity and asked, “Then who is God?”

I responded, smiling, “There is God the Father and the Son of God.”

He smiled and said, “Ah.”

I asked him again, “Do you know Him?”

He looked into my eyes again. “Know Him?” he asked.

“Yes.” I smiled. “Do you know that He loves you? He loved you so much that He gave His life for you on the cross. He died for all the bad things you and I did.” He was silent and began to place my items in the bags. I asked him, “Would you like to know Him?” He was silent as he kept sacking the items. I repeated, “He loves you. Now how wonderful is it that He would die for you! He wants you to know Him so that if anything happens to you, you will be in heaven with Him. Don’t you want to know Him? It is simple. It is not complicated.” He was silent as he placed the sacks in the cart. I continued, “He wants you to know Him. Would like to know Him? All He wants is for you to love Him back.”

Then he looked into my eyes, smiling and said, “Yes.”

“Okay, all you have to do is this,” I said and started praying, guiding him to pray with me, but before I could even say one more word, he was ready to take them out of me! He was so eager to know Jesus! So, I had to quickly say the words clearly as he repeated them, enunciating them very carefully. The second we were finished praying, he gave a big smile! Whew! He could not wait to know this Jesus, Son of God! That was amazing! He moved the cart in front of me and thanked me with a very sweet and joyful smile!

I explained what he had just done and that he would be in Heaven and that no one could take him out of God’s hand because of God’s love for him! He was ever so thankful and overjoyed! I gave him a DVD on Jesus. He took it as if it were a fish caught on a hook! I could hardly pull my hand back quickly enough!

“Abba, Father, I want to thank you for these young men whom you have guided to this country to hear about Your Son.”

“Jesus, I didn’t think that I had it in me to tell anyone from Nepal about You because they come from such a horrible, dark idol-worshipping place. But Your love is so powerful that it overcomes the darkness!”

“Holy Spirit, thank You for having that young man call me to his cashier area when I was asking for the Lord’s direction. Thank You for your sweet joy. Thank You for helping me talk to this young man about Jesus. And thank You for having a woman contact me right afterward to pray for my protection.”
