We were at a car dealership. The service manager with whom I had prayed with for his salvation referred us to another manager for our current need. We met with the man in his office and listened to him.

As I listened, I wondered if he would be open to hearing about Jesus. I waited, listening closely to his responses to our conversation. I finally took the risk of asking him, “What do you know about God?”

He said, “I know everyone has a way to God.”

I asked him, “How about you?”

He seriously began to say, “I know that someone is watching over me. I have been through a lot of close calls in my life. And I have come through them.”

I agreed with him, “Yes, He has been with you, keeping you, and now He wants you to know who He is.”

He said, “Oh, I have my way of knowing Him. I also have friends that tell me things. They send me things about God. I have a friend who was really a wild guy, but now he has changed, and he is all in. He sends me things to read. They are very good. I like them.”

He said that one of his parents was Catholic and the other, Methodist. He had chosen to attend the Methodist church. He said that it was where he had learned discipline as a child. He also shared that his wife was from Mongolia. His mother- in-law had turned to Christianity because of him and was very happy, wanting to know more. She was from Mongolia. His Catholic and Methodist religion (not born-again) was different for her.

I went back to his knowing God for himself. “Have you ever asked Jesus to be your personal Saviour?” I asked him.

He answered, “Well, I have my way of talking with who is watching over me.”

I said, “Okay, now I am going to help you talk with Him about His being your Saviour.” He sat closer to his desk, as we sat across from it. He was ready. I told him, “We are going to pray that Jesus will be your personal Saviour, so that you will be in Heaven.” He sat ready, at attention. I started praying as he prayed with me, believing in Jesus and giving his life to Him. Afterward, he lifted his arms, rejoicing!

We then talked about the Bible and where he should start reading. He took out his iPhone and showed me a Bible he had inherited. It represented the long history of Christian life in his family for generations. The Bible was his family’s inheritance. It must have dated back to the 1800s. That Bible belonged in a museum! Even before this man was born, God had already chosen him to be one of the generations who had the Bible and who would become His own, and there I was witnessing this! Wow!

Abba, I love reading the history of the Christians from the 1600s through the 1800s. And here was a man with a heritage from one of those generations! How You draw souls from generation to generation to know Your Son. How privileged I was to have met him, and Lord Jesus, You had chosen him to know You. I am so amazed that I sat in front of this man and witnessed his salvation in You. How You, Spirit of God, reveal the Son of God to every generation that they may know Him and have eternal life!
