“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.” (John 4:14-15, KJV)

My husband was deciding on purchasing a computer case for a friend. He decided not to go

with it. After thinking about it, I went back for it. When I got to him, he was talking with the cashier.

She was asking him where he was from. It happened to be the very place where she and her husband were considering moving to—Arizona. But she was very hesitant.

She was dark-skinned and was wearing a necklace that Muslims wear. I asked her where she was from. She said that she was from Afghanistan. We then talked about her country in comparison to Arizona.

She was rather nervous about making another change. I then said to her, “There is One who can help you decide. But you must believe in Him to ask Him for His help.”

She said, “I believe in God.”

I replied, “I understand; but you are missing one thing for God to hear you and answer you.”

Suddenly she extended her hands over the counter and toward me and said, “Give me this one thing! Give it to me!”

I thought of the Samaritan woman in the Bible who asked Jesus to give her living water!

I was not too sure how to go about this, but I had to tell her. I said, “God has a Son. His name is Jesus. He died for you on the cross for your sins. He loves you. And the only way that God, the Father, will hear you and answer you is if you believe in His Son as the Saviour. This is what you are missing.”

She asked, “What do I do?”

I responded, “You can ask Him to be your Saviour right now.”

She quickly said, “Okay.”

I started to talk to God, praying to Him.  I said to her, “You can pray with me.”  She repeated after me, confessing Jesus as the Son of God and asking Him to be her Saviour.

I said, “Now you can ask the Father in His Son’s name to help you. Don’t ever pray without praying in His Name—Jesus.”

Everything happened so fast. When I least expected it, there was a woman needing to know that God would hear her voice and answer her heart. And God introduced Living Water—Jesus!

“Abba, Father, thank You for this opportunity to tell a Muslim woman about Your Son.  Jesus, thank You for the experience of seeing this woman so desperately reach out with her arms to receive the One thing that she needed for her heart to reach Your Father—You, His Son!”
