He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength (Isaiah 40:29)

I was weak in body and struggling to walk, but I had to get out to help myself get through the day.

My husband and I were at a store. While looking at some items, I found two items that we could use. We decided to purchase these two items. I went to the front desk to ask for help.

A young Asian man came to help us. He looked very alert and quick in mind. I became very interested in him, because he served us as if we were the only customers in the store. I asked him for a discount on one of the items. He said, “I would do it, but I am not the manager.”

I said, “That’s okay; just pretend you are.” This caused he and my husband to burst into laughter. They laughed so deeply that I started laughing too. Laughing, he left to call the manager.

A tall woman came to talk with us. She had very attentive eyes, and her tongue was pierced. She spoke with an accent. Her eyes caught my attention. She was very sincere. I asked her where she was from. She said that she was from Germany. We then talked about her being away from home and now in the U.S., raising her children. We also talked about my experience in teaching English to Germans.

Afterward, she left to get a new price with a discount. The young Asian returned with the new price tag, but there was a mistake. We would have to wait for the manager again.

Meanwhile, I took the opportunity to talk with him. He said that he was Japanese and Filipino. I asked him what else he did besides work at the store. He shared his life goals and that at the time he was looking for connections. I said to him, “I am going to tell you of someone who is the best connection that you can have, and this connection will help you with all others. Would you like for me to tell you who that is?”

He answered, “Yes, I would like that.”

I then told him, “His name is Jesus. Do you know Him?”

He said, “Where I come from, it is a very religious country. I have heard of Jesus.”

I asked him, “Would you like to know Him as the Saviour of your soul? You know that you will go somewhere when your time comes, and the only way to heaven is through the Son of God, Jesus, who died on the cross for your sins and mine.”

His response was, “I didn’t know that you could do that.”

I asked him, “Would you like to know Him?” He said that he would. I said, “We have to pray and ask him, so let’s pray.” We prayed as customers were passing us by. We kept our eyes on each other as we prayed. He believed in Jesus as his Saviour, asked Him for forgiveness for his sins, and asked Him to use his life for His Glory. Afterward, he was so happy.

He said, “This was so good. I had never known such a prayer. This is so very good.” I asked him if he had a Bible. He said that he did. We talked about where to start reading it.

The manager had now returned. She asked us to follow her to the register. As she was checking our items, I asked her, “You do know who loves you, right?”

She glanced at me with those sincere eyes and asked, “Who?”

I said, “Have you not known of Jesus?”

She looked into my eyes and said, “Yes, I have.”

I responded, “Have you not asked Him to be your Saviour? All you have to do is ask Him.”

She smiled and said, “No, I have not, but I should.”

I asked her, “Do you know how?”

She smiled again and said, “Just ask Him.”

I approached her closer. She was behind the register. I said to her, “I am going to help you right now to ask Him.” She leaned over the counter. I said, “Let’s pray.” We prayed while customers were at other counters. She received Jesus as her personal Saviour, and she too gave her life to Him for His glory. No one came to the counter where we were, while we were praying. I knew that the Lord was keeping them away. She had such a joyful look in her face afterward and a big smile. I asked her if she had a Bible. She said that she did. We talked about where and how to start reading.

Both the young Asian man and the manager helped us take the items to the car. I was so surprised that she had joined us to help. It was freezing cold, and the wind was strong! The four of us talked a little, and the manager and I gave each other a warm hug. We took photos together. We were all rejoicing!

“Abba, Father, I can’t do much going out these days, but You gave me the strength to get to that store. Even though I was in great discomfort in body, You held me up because You had drawn two souls to your Son, and You sent me while I was in pain and discomfort to get Your work done. Jesus, how merciful You are to me, to hold me up with Your righteous right hand and continue to save souls even though I cannot even stand up straight. Thank You for Your Spirit who helps me when I am weak and gives me Your strength to walk to get to the souls that You are after—two more jewels for Your crown, Messiah!”
