We were at a store, considering the purchase of a mirror. I asked my husband to stand in front of it, while I quickly looked at others. I noticed that a woman was also taking a look at the same mirror and waiting on us.

My husband moved away from it, and the woman walked up to it. My husband looked at me, and I said, “I told you.” So he walked up to the mirror and told the woman that we were considering buying that mirror.

The lady was very kind. She smiled and quickly moved aside. I asked William to take the mirror off the little shelf underneath it to check if we could see ourselves full length. I could see myself at full length, but my husband was cut off at the neck. The mirror would not work for us. I looked at the woman. There was another woman with her. I said to the first woman, “You can have the mirror. It will not work for us. And, I just could not do this to you. It’s yours!” She was so happy! She thanked us, as I handed the mirror to her.

She and her friend were so excited about getting the mirror. We talked about how they were going to use it, and how I had planned to use it. We began to talk girl-talk about where we would place the mirror in each of our homes. I told them that their plan was a very good one and that it would look very pretty.

I asked them where they were from. They said that they were from Puerto Rico. They asked me where I was from and also asked me, “Do you speak a little Spanish, or do you really know how to speak Spanish?”

I said, “I really do know Spanish.” Then they and I started to speak in Spanish.

They said, “Ah, you do know Spanish! That’s great!”

As the three of us were standing together with the mirror in front of us, I said to them, “There is a scripture in the Bible about a mirror. It says that we look in a mirror and when we walk away from it, we forget what we what we look like. And this is the way we are with God. We talk with Him, and then we forget that we have just been talking with Him and go about our day.”

The lady that had walked up to the mirror commented, “Oh, we must never forget Him.”

I then asked them, “Do you know God?” The same lady said, “I pray every day.” I talked with them and said, “Do you just know God as God? You know He is God, but do you know Him as YOUR God—your personal God. Your very own? Someone with whom you can talk personally? Have you ever asked Him to be YOUR God?”

Both of them drew nearer as I talked. They both said, “No, I haven’t.” They drew closer.

I boldly spoke, “I am going to help you know how to ask Him to be your God by believing in His Son, Jesus.”

I looked around to see if any customers were near. All was clear. There were two, but they were not close enough to hear us. I continued, “We are going to pray and talk with God.” They both drew closer to me with eager eyes. I asked, “Are you ready?”

“Yes,” they both said very seriously.

“Okay, let’s pray.” We prayed together as they both gave their lives to Jesus, asking Him to be their God, asking for forgiveness for their sins, and giving their lives to Him.

The three of us rejoiced as we hugged each other! They thanked me and thanked me as we hugged and hugged. We then talked about reading the Bible. Then we hugged again. My husband took a photo of us. They were so appreciative!

James 1:23-24

“Abba, I was not sure how to start talking to these two women about You. Jesus, how is it that I really didn’t know how to speak of You? I did not know what to say. But the Holy Spirit did. All I could do was open my mouth and let Him fill it. And You saved two souls holding a mirror, standing in the aisle of a store. May they look in it and see Your Spirit in the window of their eyes.”
